The Court is Recruiting Editors for the 2010-11 Academic Year

The Court (thecourt.ca) is recruiting upper year JD students to be senior editors of The Court for the upcoming academic year, September 2010 to the end of April 2011.

The Court is run by 11 student volunteers, with oversight from a faculty member as Editor in Chief. Each editor receives an honorarium of $1000. It is expected that there will be between eight or nine senior editors from the upper years and (to be recruited in September 2010) two or three junior editors.

One senior editor will be Managing Editor, responsible for the overall smooth functioning of The Court. S/he will be assisted by two Senior Editors, whose roles include responsibility for scheduling and editing posts and for managing the work of the junior editors on projects. The remaining senor editors will be Senior Contributing Editors whose role is to contribute posts on a regular basis (roughly once every two weeks).

The deadline for applications for the 2010-11 Academic Year Editors is June 1 by 12 noon.

Please submit an application cover letter, a CV, Osgoode transcript (unofficial copy), and at least one writing sample to the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Craig Scott, via Hazel Pollack at hpollack@osgoode.yorku.ca (copying to Professor Scott at cscott@osgoode.yorku.ca).

Potential applicants who wish can arrange through Professor Scott to speak to a current student editor of The Court about the nature of the position.

[Please note: The Court is also recruiting RAs as Summer Editors for this coming summer. See http://www.thecourt.ca/summer/ for details. Those applications are due April 15, 2010]
