Thank you for your support, dear readers

We at TheCourt.ca have an exciting announcement. On December 31st, 2016, our blog received the Simon Fodden Award for Best Canadian Law Blog by the Canadian Law Blog Awards, or Clawbies. This is what Clawbies had to say about us:

It’s no exaggeration to say that The Court, the Supreme Court of Canada analysis blog produced by faculty and students at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, is a contender for this award every year. During a decade in which the SCC has had an enormous impact on the lives of Canadians and the livelihoods of lawyers, The Court has been there every step of the way to summarize, advise, and analyze the Supreme Court’s rulings. Yet in 2016, The Court’s frequency of posts, breadth of coverage, and depth of analysis pushed it over the top and garnered the blog its first Fodden Award since 2008.

We could not be more thrilled with the win. Our Contributors, Editors, Webmaster, and Editor-in-Chief work very, very hard to make this website what it is. We are extremely grateful and honoured that our hard work has achieved acclaim from the rest of the blogging community. But we also want to take the time to thank you, our dear readers. Thank you for supporting us over the years, for emailing us when you don’t hear from us in a while, for engaging with our writers in the comments section, for nominating us for this award, and most importantly, for simply continuing to read what we write! We truly couldn’t do it without you.

And know this: as exciting as this news is, we will not rest on our laurels. Being recognized by Clawbies only serves as further motivation to continue doing what we’ve always strived to do: bring higher quality content to our readers, with increasingly insightful and analytical commentary on those court decisions that most impact the lives of Canadians. Let’s make next year even better than the last!

Sincerely,

Lillianne Cadieux-Shaw and Alicja Puchta
